September 22, 2016, UK Healthcare emergency medicine care providers participated in the 2nd annual Emergency Medicine Residents’ Association’s (EMRA) EM Day of Service. The EM Day of Service is a specialty-driven event where emergency care providers identify community needs and volunteer to address those needs.
This year, emergency medicine’s community project was SURVIVE LEX, an End of the Overdose Project, Lexington, Kentucky; Opiate Reversal & Bystander CPR. Volunteers taught lay people in individual, six-minute demonstrations on overdose – i.e. chest compression only CPR and IN naloxone administration.
