Dr. Binita Shah, Distinguished Teaching Professor of Pediatrics & Emergency Medicine presents Grand Rounds

On  June 2, 2016, the Department of Emergency Medicine hosted Binita R. Shah, MD, FAAP, Distinguished Teaching Professor of Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics Departments of Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics, State University of New Your (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center. Dr. Shah provided two Grand Rounds presentations to faculty and residents about life-threatening dermatological emergencies and a potpourri of pediatric emergencies and how to foresee the next patient.

Dr. Shah completed her pediatric residency, chief residency and ambulatory care fellowship at SUNY Downstate/ Kings County Hospital followed by serving as a Director of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Kings County for over 20 years. Dr. Shah is known nationally and internationally through her highly acclaimed books: Atlas of Pediatric Clinical Diagnosis and Atlas of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. She is an avid photographer, and over 1800 clinical photographs taken during her pediatric practice are published in these books. She has received numerous awards for her excellence in clinical teaching and was also elected by students to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. Her lectures on “Visual Diagnosis” have been presented several times at the AAP NCE and regional meetings, as well as at international CME conferences.
